Women of Brookstone

Among the pages of Exodus, there is a nugget of encouragement for the wife. Her name wouldn’t jump out to you as one to remember, and truthfully, her name is often forgotten. Her name is Zipporah, Moses’ wife.

Children are like sponges. They hear and absorb everything. Actions and attitudes can be learned from others at a very young age. Depending on what is being shared, it can be good or bad.

I am reminded of the midwives who feared you in the first pages of Exodus as Moses’ birth story unfolds. The exact words “fear of God,” are used to describe their faith.

The Lord calls us to hard work in many places throughout scripture. He wants us to be good stewards of our time and resources, no doubt. He also wants us to sit with Him. Yes, just sit.

On December 29th, 2025, my trajectory changed. Something I didn’t see coming, something totally out of my control. It took me by surprise. I was caught off guard. But there is one thing I know for sure: God was not taken by surprise.

When we believe something deeply, it changes what we do. When we let the truth of the unending, unchanging love of God fill our hearts, that same love spills out of us like a cup overflowing onto everyone we interact with. We love others more fully when we more fully understand God’s love for us.
