The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance,

but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.

Proverbs 21:5

The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.

In every task, project, and preparation, we put our hands to work. But what good is our work without a plan carried out with diligence?

It’s easy to get lost in the busy work or the things that become seemingly urgent. Heed the wisdom of Proverbs: let your diligence carry out your plans. To have diligence is to show care for the things you do and to work hard for them. Surely, this will lead to abundance.

When a last minute task comes in, it can be tempting to rush forward without giving it the thought or intentional care it deserves. Even when time feels limited, we are still called to proceed with diligence and excellence, not anxiety and haste.

A rushing and flippant response to a task will often lead to a poor outcome. Instead, slow down enough to seek wisdom, consider your steps, and work faithfully with what the Lord has entrusted to you. Diligence may take more effort, but it produces work that is lasting, God-honoring, and marked by abundance rather than regret.

As you continue your week, plan well, remain diligent and look toward the abundance God has in store.
